Techniques & Médiums

Sensitive abstraction, emotional expression

Mediums: acrylic on large-format canvas, mixed media (acrylic & ink).

Research into textures, contrasts, transparencies.

Themes: encounters, emotions, freedoms, identities, memories, resilience, openness.

Non-narrative works, open to interpretation. Freedom and intimate resonance are at the heart of the work.

Anaïs LF develops an abstract practice, guided by an intuitive and sensitive approach. Acrylic on canvas is her primary medium, often in large format, sometimes enriched with ink in a subtle blend of textures, transparencies, and opacities.

Her works explore deep emotional states, traversed by personal experiences—encounters, grief, reconstruction, identity—without ever engaging in an explicit narrative.

She conceives each painting as an open space, where emotion takes precedence over explanation, and where the "viewer" can project their own resonances. The "viewer" becomes a "co-creator." What she seeks above all is a form of freedom—the freedom to create, but also the freedom to allow everyone to interpret, experience, and appropriate her works.

Techniques and gestures:
an organic relationship with matter

Anaïs began her painting practice instinctively, without using brushes, favoring direct contact with the material: her fingers and water became her primary tools for shaping the paint. Water is a key source of inspiration in my work, both for its fluidity and for its role in creating contrasts and transparencies within the material.

This tactile approach underscores a desire for immediacy and intimacy.

In the series Les Vagues, Le Chemin, she introduced the use of large, flat brushes, inherited from her family of carpenters—a gesture that connects her pictorial work to a closeness to manual work. These technical choices reflect a search for balance between control and spontaneity, between body and material, which structures her artistic practice.
